INFINIX ZERO 5G Now: First Impressions and Unboxing

Infinix ZERO 5G Now

Si Infinix Zero 5G Now!

Pag sinabing Zero, matic na yan na top of the line

ni Infinix. Kung yung ibang phones nila ay nakafocus sa gaming, ‘eto mas halimaw sa gaming, at the same time halimaw din sa camera.

The newest E-sports phone: Infinix Zero 5G Now!!!

‘Eto rin yung kauna-unahang na nareview ko na merong ultra frame rates (120fps) sa Mobile Legends. In terms of bilis, para sa presyo nya, dapat nasa 25,000 na ‘to at kasing bilis nya ang iPhone 12. And for the first time, etong phone na to ay sobrang elegante na ang design, mukha siyang pang flagship.

Kamukha ng OPPO Find X5 Pro, a flagship phone which costs over PHP60,000, at mas smooth tingnan. Mukhang durable na ceramic ang back panel kahit made of plastic pa.

Almost-flagship level specs at affordable prices

Pero syempre guys, bawal pa sabihin. We will reveal all the details on March 25 on our Youtube channel.

PACKAGING

Tangkad yarn?

The first thing na mapapansin mo with the Infinix ZERO 5G Now is the very tall box. This is the first time we’ve seen a phone box this tall. It feels premium when comparing this to Infinix’s previous phone releases. The box has small geometric designs which become iridescent (rainbow-ish) at certain angles.

Infinix, shimmering, splendid, 5G – you name it.

The ZERO 5G label is the biggest print on the front of the box, with the Infinix logo at the top left corner, and the series name on the lower right side. Meron na ka na idea agad about the phone variant of the phone you’re getting because of the helpful print on the upper-right side of the box that says 128GB+8GB.

Opening this box reveals the phone, which is actually smaller than the actual box size. The plastic covering shows some of the best features of the phone: 5G network capability, Dimensity 900 na chipset, uniframe body, at ang 30x camera zoom.

That smaller box has a surprise.

Sa ilalim ng phone ay isa pang “secret” compartment containing the 33W charging brick and the cable.

But the smaller box actually has another secret: opening this reveals a clear jelly case specially made para sa Infinix ZERO 5G Now, and one doll- we mean, ONE XGold that looks like a one dollar bill. Talagang yayamanin ang dating because of the “play money”.

Dollah dolla bills y’all.

Here’s the full box contents:

The Infinix ZERO 5G in all in its full, unboxed glory.

DESIGN

The Infinix Zero 5G comes in three colors: Horizon Blue, Cosmic Black, and Skylight Orange. For this first impressions article, we have the Horizon Blue. This color is actually Resene Blumine.

Looks durable, like kitchen grade industrial metal.

The back panel of the Infinix ZERO 5G Now has a very sophisticated but simple design. Hindi halata ang camera bump because of the unicurve, kaya naman walang sabit if ilalagay sa bulsa. The Infinix logo is stamped on the lower left side of the phone.

On the upper left side of the back panel is the triple camera array: meron syang malaking main camera na may mas malaking 48MP resolution, 13MP na telephoto lens na merong 2x optical zoom, and a 2MP depth sensor.

That unicurve just speaks sophisticated.

Now: on the left edge is the sim tray and on the right edge is the volume rocker button and the power button/fingerprint reader just below it. Near the chin of the phone is the 3.5 mm jack (thank you, Infinix), a USB-C charging port, and a mono-speaker grill.

Left side profile showing sim-tray.

Right-side profile showing volume rocker and fingerprint sensor.

Top profile

Bottom profile showing 3.5 mm jack, USB-C port, and speaker grills.

This is a 5G phone that looks truly elegant but at a cheaper price.

DISPLAY

The Infinix Zero 5G uses a 6.78″ FHD+ 120Hz IPS LTPS display. But wait, ‘wag nyong minamalitt ang display quality kahit IPS ‘yan. At first look, mapagkakamalan mong AMOLED since very bright ang colors, and maganda ang level ng saturation.

That IPS panel looks too good, like AMOLED-level good.

If AMOLEDs are 10, and regular IPS are 3, the type of IPS used in the Infinix ZERO 5G Now is a strong 8. Almost there, but not quite. Mahahalata mo lang na IPS if viewing movies or wallpapers na all-black because of the backlight bleed, but in normal conditions, hindi mo mapapansin.

Maximized rin ang screen real estate because of the hole-punch front cam.

Scrolling animation is smooth thanks to the 120Hz display, kaya ang ganda mag swipe left sa Tinder, or mag browse ng Tiktok videos. Mas enjoyable pa manood ng Netflix or Youtube series kapag naka high-resolution ang settings.

Ang ganda ng details sa IPS screen!!!

But we all know the 120Hz is more useful in other situations, especially gaming. Idagdag mo pa jan ang unique na IPS display ng Infinix ZERO 5G Now and what you get is brighter and saturated colors for map visibility sa Mobile Legends. We all know mas maganda ang gameplay pag litaw lahat ng heroes, at mas madali mag aim (at umiwas) sa skill shots pag litaw sila against the background.

PERFORMANCE

Ang kagandahan ng Dimensity chips ay mas mura sila, but the Mediatek Dimensity 900 5G performs even greater than the Snapdragon 695G. Kung maalala nyo, the very popular Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G uses a Snapdragon 695G chipset, pero kayang-kaya lagpasan yan ng Infinix Zero 5G.

Bootup only takes 14 seconds, and 6 seconds lang ang loading sa Genshin Impact. App launching for Facebook, Shopee, Lazada, Netflix, and other apps are instant.

We’re not posting benchmark scores yet, but here are some sample screenshots from the games you can play with Dimensity 900 5G.

Wild Rift on 30fps, smooth gaming experience

This phone has 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, so assured ka na merong enough space for you to store Tiktok clips, videos, and HDR photos. The sim tray provides expanded storage so you can save more files and install more games or apps.

The storage also uses UFS 3.1 kaya mas mabilis na rin mag transfer ng malalaking files. This is one of the many advantages of using a phone with a Dimensity 900 5G chipset.

GAMING

We’ve tested Wildrift, Mobile Legends, and CODM, at kayang-kaya naman. It supports ultra-frame rate sa Mobile Legends and sobrang ganda ng experience.

Wala namang overheating na nangyari, and the phone can handle at least 5 back-to-back games na walang reduction sa processor speed.

When it comes to how long the battery lasts, the Infinix ZERO 5G Now can handle at least half a day’s worth of game time. We’ve tested this: at full battery, you can play 5 games and still have around 50% remaining.

Genshin Impact works well, although only at lower resolutions.

This phone lasts long for competitive gameplay, and is a good all-around choice for gamers. If you’re not into gaming, this phone is a good choice because of the camera too, not to mention meron din syang 30x zoom.

CAMERA

The rear camera setup is made with three: the 48MP main camera, the 13MP telephoto camera, and the 2MP depth sensor.

The main camera captures images in great detail – kuha lahat ng details mo sa garden, and litaw yung small details. Just check out these camera samples.

Ganda ng kuha ng 48 MP main camera! Natural lighting works best.

Here’s another picture of a flower. The bokeh effect does make pictures look better.

The most useful feature of the Infinix ZERO 5G Now is the 30x zoom capability. From an ultrawide shot, the phone can go into smaller and smaller details in a picture. Syempre hindi din naman sobrang clear pag nag zoom-in, but if you imagine, you’re taking pictures from afar na hindi na rin makikita ng mata mo, but the Infinix ZERO 5G Now can.

This photo looks like it could use some details.

Oh, wait. There’s the detail. 30x zoom loses some picture quality.

Under different kinds of lighting, iba-iba rin ang performance ng main camera. Outdoors, mas magada ang results, but indoors, not so much. Although meron syang night mode for brighter photos in dim light, mejo grainy ang quality. However, mareremedyohan ang ganitong photo by using long shutter speed instead, which is available sa pro camera mode.

Maraming camera modes ang Infinix ZERO 5G Now, like the Super Night mode, Portrait, Beauty, and the useful AI Cam. When using the AI Cam, it automatically turns up the brightness kaya naman mejo nawawalan ng details ang picture, and the exposure looks maxed out.

Regardless, the phone is able to capture any image in whatever kind of lighting, but you can expect some grainy quality (na pwedeng ayusin afterwards using photo editing software).

PRICE AND LAUNCH DATE

The phone is not yet official, and there’s no official price, but stay tuned for updates on where to buy this E-sports level gaming phone from Infinix. Hint: It’s close to an Iphone variant released three or four years ago. The Infinix Zero 5G NOW will soon launch in the Philippines this week on March 25, 2022!
