This is truly the most epic smartphone that has ever been released so far in 2022. The REDMAGIC 7 is everything you would want in a gaming phone. It has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Processor which could potentially reach 1 Million points in Antutu Benchmark which is the highest score in any smartphone.
You also get a whopping 18GB RAM which is about 4.5x the ram of the usual laptop, this could also be your first 18GB smartphone which is crazy to think.
The monster gaming phone is also sporting a super fast E-sport 165Hz Amoled display – this will enable you to maximize your gaming skills and win more games. This could be the gaming phone you are looking for so check out our Unboxing and initial impressions down below.
PACKAGING
Special yung box ni REDMAGIC 7 this year as it has more stuff going on sa cover Nina.
Sobrang stylish ang packaging ng REDMAGIC 7. Color-wise, grey and white lang ginamit ng Nubia for the packaging pero unique ang print – parang Knights of Sidonia ang art style.
At the top of the box is the REDMAGIC label, the lower left side of the box features the REDMAGIC logo, and another REDMAGIC label sa left face ng box. If you buy this phone, mahirap na i-contain ang excitement because you’re looking at a unit na binigyan ng effort ang visuals.
These three prints shift colors depende sa anggulo ng ilaw. Overall, yung packaging nya is visually-attractive para sa mobile gamers.
Upon removing the top cover, you get a smaller, flatter box na naglalaman ng sim ejector pin, manuals, and a free jelly case.
The Jellycase included also compliments the phone by showing the middle portion and also looks cool by itself.
Kasama ng phone is the 65W quick charger with USB-C on both ends, compared to most phones ngayon na USB-C port sa phone and USB-A sa adaptor. The charging brick is one of the most compact na nakita namin. Syempre consistent si Nubia, kaya naman red na rin ang cable.
Overall, the box contains the phone, the jelly case and manuals, charging brick and cable.
DESIGN
Sa unang tingin, mapapa-wow ka nalang sa dami ng details sa likod ng REDMAGIC 7. Unang-una mo mapapansin yung transparent na backpanel.
Kitang-kita mo sa loob ang fan at internals, its like its projecting its power and muscle kaya iba pakiramdam pag hawak mo na ang phone. You will instantly feel na gamer ka kahit hindi, and feeling boosted ang performance .
The next one is the several prints in gold na pinapakita anong bigating parts ang included sa REDMAGIC 7.
Sa left side profile, there’s the dedicated game space mode switch, main exhaust grill para sa cooling fan, and volume rocker.
Sa right side profile naman, meron ang power button at secondary exhaust grills. Nandito rin ang pinaka useful feature ng isang gaming phone – shoulder buttons. The shoulder buttons are customizable para sa iba’t ibang game controls which you can map in-game tulad ng Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG
For example, pwede mo i-assign L and R keys for the acceleration and brakes for racing games. Or para sa zoom/shoot buttons sa Call of Duty Mobile. There’s less to press on screen, kaya mas enjoyable at efficient ang 5v5 games.
Yung back panel is designed to be ergonomic because instead of a flat back, it’s a curved design para ma-accomodate yung natural curvature ng fingers natin. The result is improved gameplay and less chances na matalo.
DISPLAY
Hindi lang AMOLED screen meron ang REDMAGIC 7 – meron syang 165Hz refresh rate!!! It’s well over above the standard 120Hz refresh rate kaya naman sobrang smooth ng scrolling animations, app launching, at generally lahat involved with movement sa display. Kaya lang siyempre halos lahat ng sikat ng games ay wala paring support for 120FPS frame rates kaya its hard to justify having this much refresh rate on a phone.
There are a handful of games though that can actually go up to 165FPS which the REDMAGIC 7 can take advantage of, this are: Bullet Force, Real Racing 3 and Vainglory to name a few.
Napaka-critical para sa gamers ang isang responsive na display. For example, mahirap i-pull off ang cable moves ni Fanny, or yung Flicker-Ultimate ni Chou kapag delayed ang touch response. Kaya naman meron syang 720Hz touch sampling rate.
For comparison, most phones will only have up to 360Hz touch sampling rate, or even lower. Kahit slight touch lang, assured kang mag reregister sa screen.
At 700 nits, the REDMAGIC 7 display is bright kahit nasa labas ka or loob ng bahay. You’ll be able to play games even under direct sunlight.
You will notice na hindi masakit sa mata ang brightness, and you will appreciate the fact that this phone has SGS certification. Eto yung equivalent ng TUV Rheinland certification for blue light eye safety.
PERFORMANCE
Pagdating naman sa processor, equipped si REDMAGIC 7 ng bago at mabilis na Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Sobrang bilis ng chip na ‘to – at pag naka-on na ang game console mode switch, pwedeng i-overclock ang CPU up to 3GHz.
Compared to a laptop, sobrang lake ng RAM ng REDMAGIC 7. At 18GBs, walang game ang hindi mo pwedeng malaro. That’s a RAM size 4.5 times greater than karamihan ng mga budget laptops in 2022.
Pagdating sa game console mode, tataas ang power consumption ng chip, and at the same time tataas ang performance ng Nubia REDMAGIC 7.

We tested Genshin Impact on the game, and merong noticeable warming-up. Buti nalang gumagana yung cooling fan, and merong dedicated heat sink para hindi mag throttle ang performance ng processor.
However, wala pang support ang Mobile Legends kay REDMAGIC 7 for Ultra High graphic settings, but all-in-all, gameplay ay sobrang smooth.
To help run the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip on the Nubia REDMAGIC 7, loaded ang phone with a 4500mAh battery for non-stop gaming action. The battery also charges REALLY FAST – hindi na Li-ion ang gamit, but a better GaN battery. Hindi sya nag o-overheat during charging unlike ng Li-ion.The 65W charger also gives the battery enough juice during a quick charge. It only takes less than 40 mins para umabot ng 60% from an empty battery.
GAMING
The REDMAGIC 7 has a dedicated game space. If long-time user ka ng Xiaomi or Redmi, you will be familiar with the Game Turbo mode. Walang sinabi ang Game Turbo mode sa Game Space ng REDMAGIC 7.
If the Game Booster in REDMAGIC 7 clears background processes, then the REDMAGIC 7 Game Space can do more.
Opening the game space menu during a game brings up a variety of options. One of these is adjusting the touch sampling rate. Pwede na itaas hanggang 720Hz para naman super responsive ang display sa taps. Other functions are available on the left side menu.
Pwede ring iadjust ang color scheme ng phone para mas suitable for game play. For games like Mobile Legends, mas magandang bright at high-contrast ang settings para makita lahat ng characters. It will be easier to aim at minions when they pop out of the background.
Pwede rin iadjust ang CPU performance. Merong three modes: eco, balance, and rise. The rise option will overclock the CPU up to 3.00 Ghz. On the right side menu, pwede na rin iadjust ang screen refresh rate at manual adjustments sa fan.
Shoulder buttons can also be customized in the Game space menu. In this image, the L and R buttons are assigned to an ammo reload and a scope button. This eliminates the need to move the right thumb all over the right side of the screen.
CAMERA
Most gaming phones are optimized for user interface and not much on camera. But the REDMAGIC 7 doesn’t disappoint. Meron siyang 64MP main camera na may kakaibang gimik – makikita yung focus points sa screen. It’s a neat photography perk for gamers who also prefer to maximize their phone features. Aside from the 64 MP main camera, meron rin ultrawide and macro lens.
Maraming camera modes available sa default camera app: night, portrait, pro (very useful), and at least 16 other different modes sa camera-family mode.

For video, the camera can capture as high as 8K resolution at 30fps. Kung seryoso ka sa mobile photography or videography, makakagawa ka na ng decent short films using the phone. Maganda rin to for Instagram or Facebook stories, or even Tik Tok clips.
Malinaw na malinaw ang selfies even in low-light conditions courtesy ng malalaking 1.12μm sensors. For a gaming phone, the camera is more than enough para sa everyday photography and recording needs.
